LIPEZ, Circuit Judge.

A jury convicted the defendant, a former Boston police sergeant, of one count of deprivation of constitutional rights and four counts of witness tampering. The charges stem from the defendant’s assault on a 21-year-old college student and - subsequent efforts to conceal that crime from investigators. On appeal, the defendant seeks a new trial on the ground that the district court improperly limited cress-examination of police officers who testified for the government.
