Plaintiff Sharon Spearman (“Spear-man”), on behalf of herself and her children, filed suit under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against several Chicago police officers (“the officer defendants”) for violating her and her children’s civil rights. Spearman later amended her complaint to include a claim against the City of Chicago (“the City”) under Monell v. Department of Social Services of the City of New York, 436 U.S. 658, 98 S.Ct. 2018, 56 L.Ed.2d 611 (1978). The City has moved to dismiss the Monell claim pursuant to Rule 12(b)(6)…
