Defendant McKnight was convicted of murder in the first degree and was sentenced to life imprisonment upon a jury’s recommendation. N. J. S. A. 2A :113-4. He appealed directly to us under R. R. 1:2-l (c) prior to the amendment of October 5, 1967.
