On February 12, 1933, the wife of S. E. Lane died as a result of injuries received in a gas explosion, which had occurred the previous afternoon in the kitchen of her apartment in Belton, Texas. Plaintiff alleged negligence against the defendant in permitting its gas to flow through unsafe equipment in the Lane apartment. The case was submitted to the jury-on special issues, and by virtue of the jury’s answers to such issues the trial court entered judgment in favor of the plaintiff against the defendant.
