Appeal from a judgment of the Supreme Court (Dier, J.), entered October 17, 1997 in Washington County, upon a verdict rendered in favor of defendants.
*847We are called upon to decide whether Supreme Court properly denied plaintiffs motion to set aside the jury’s verdict on damages in this automobile negligence case. For the reasons that follow, we conclude that plaintiff’s motion should have been granted and, thus, we reverse.
