Plaintiff Stephen J. Gurniak (“Plaintiff’) commenced the instant action against Defendant Edna Emilsen (“Defendant”) seeking monetary damages as a result of allegedly false statements made by Defendant to the Internal Affairs Bureau (“IAB”) of the New York City Police Department (“NYPD”), Plaintiffs employer. Plaintiff asserts that Defendant’s statements cost him a one-time opportunity for promotion.
