Plaintiffs William A. Waters and Donald Samuels, both black journeymen bricklayers, appeal from a judgment of the district court entered after a bench trial finding that the defendants had violated both Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq., and section I of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, 42 U.S.C. § 1981. The plaintiffs’ appeals center solely on the district court’s approach to calculating the plaintiffs’ back-pay award and attorneys’ fees under Title VII.
