LOKEN, Circuit Judge.
Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company issued a group disability policy (the “Policy”) to fund an ERISA plan for the benefit of the employees of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. The Policy granted Hartford “full discretion and authority to determine eligibility for benefits and to construe and interpret [its] terms and provisions.” Everett E. McGarrah, a Wal-Mart truck driver, slipped on ice at a truck stop in 1994, sustained a herniated cervical disc, and applied for long-term disability benefits under the Policy.
