MITCHELL, Justice.

The defendant, Gregory Flint Taylor, was tried upon proper indictments charging him with first-degree murder and with accessory after the fact to the felony of murder. The defendant was tried non-capitally at the 12 April 1993 Mixed Session of Superior Court, Wake County. The jury found the defendant guilty of first-degree murder and not guilty of accessory after the fact. The trial court entered judg merit on 20 April 1993 sentencing the defendant to the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment. The defendant appeals to this Court as a matter of right. See N.C.G.S. §…
