This case presented a claim that a school district infringed a vendor’s intellectual property. The plaintiff, Arthur Smith, designs and produces customized t-shirts. He alleged that Houston Independent School District (HISD) tortiously broke off an arrangement for Mr. Smith to produce logo t-shirts for a school in the district. At a hearing on June 21, 2016, the court granted the defendants’ motion to dismiss the second amended complaint without prejudice and allowed Mr. Smith to re-plead to try to address the problems…
