Plaintiff as administratrix of the estate of her deceased son, Joseph Edward Correia, brought an action for damages by reason of his death which occurred in the course of his employment as the member of a crew of the fishing boat “Sea Hound,” a tuna clipper operated out of the port of San Diego, California. The vessel was of United States registry, wholly owned by the defendants, citizens of the United States. The action was brought for the benefit of the surviving parents of the deceased, pursuant to the provisions of the Jones Act (46 U.S. Code, § 688). The jury awarded plaintiff damages in…
