Plaintiffs Gannett Pacific Corporation and Chesapeake Television, Inc. appeal from an order of the trial court dismissing their complaint seeking production of records of a criminal investigation conducted by Defendant North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (“the SBI”). Plaintiffs argue the records are not statutorily protected from disclosure and should be released. After careful consideration, we conclude Plaintiffs are not entitled to release of the SBI’s records of its criminal investigation or criminal intelligence information.
