On December 13, 1973, the defendant was convicted after a jury trial of the crime of manslaughter. On February 4, 1974, a sentence of not less than 3 nor more than 15 years in the state prison was imposed. It appears that the defendant had been married to the decedent and that even after the divorce the parties maintained a close liaison with each other although they were never remarried.
