This is in response to your request for an opinion on three questions concerning the terms of office of members of the General Assembly. Specifically, you note, among other things, that Arkansas Constitution article 8, section 6 provides that senators and representatives shall be elected at the general election, and that "their respective terms of office shall begin on January 1 next following."
