DAVIDSON, Judge.

Appellant was convicted of the murder of Margaret Naff by beating her to death with a soldering iron, and given the death penalty. The motive was robbery, which was effectuated.

The deceased, seventy years of age and a cripple, lived with her son, John Naff, on a little farm about three miles from the town of Camden in Polk County. On Sunday morning, August 27, 1944, the son left home to go to Camden, where he worked. Upon his return that night about nine o’clock, he found his mother lying on the edge of the bed, dead as the result of a crushed skull, with some ten wounds…
