The controversy in this case involves a 1970 Lincoln Continental, which was apparently stolen from Hertz Corporation, and which ultimately came into the hands of one Ronald Otis Fischer of Jacksonville, Florida, on August 19, 1970, who transferred it to David A. Ramage, who in turn on November 9, 1971, sold it to Absey Motors, Incorporated, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, which corporation on May 17, 1973, consigned it to Tri-State Auction Co., Inc., for sale by auction.
