*46PRICE, Judge:
Following a jury trial, appellant was convicted on October 6, 1976, of rape1 and possession of an instrument of crime generally.2 Appellant’s post-trial motions were denied, and he was sentenced to imprisonment of from three to ten years on the rape conviction and one to two years on the possession charge. For the reasons set forth herein, we affirm the judgment of sentence.3
Appellant first maintains that the judgment must be vacated because the Commonwealth failed to comply with Pa.R.Crim.P. 1100(a)(2),4 which requires that a defendant be brought to trial within 180 days of the…
