The defendants move to dismiss this action for lack of jurisdiction over their persons. The plaintiff cross-moves for leave to file an affidavit of service nunc pro tune.

In attempting to effect service by section 253 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, the plaintiff sent the summons and complaint by certified mail to the defendants at their respective addresses given in the vehicle accident report. The defendant Peer’s letter was returned marked "Moved, left no address” and the defendant Calle’s letter was returned marked "Ad*944dress unknown”. The statute…
