This appeal arises from Defendant’s conviction of participating in the March 2008 kidnapping, robbery, and murder of Eve Marie Carson, then president of the student body at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (“UNC”). The evidence at trial tended to show *458the following: On 5 March 2008, Carson lived in a house at 202 Friendly Lane in Chapel Hill with three fellow UNC students.
