The appellant was found guilty by a jury of having violated section 266g of the Penal Code, and among the grounds upon which he seeks a reversal is that the evidence is insufficient to support the verdict.

The code section under which he was convicted bears the heading, “Placing or permitting the placing of one’s wife in house of prostitution,” and it declares as follows: “Every man who, by force, intimidation, threats, persuasion, promises, or any other means, places or leaves ... his wife in a house of prostitution, or connives at or consents to, or permits, the placing or leaving of his…
