OPINION

CUMMINGS, Justice.

A jury convicted the appellant, George Nevarez, of possession of less than 28 grams of a controlled substance: methamphetamine 1 , enhanced by two felony con victions 2 , and assessed punishment at life in prison.

In points one through eight, Nevarez complains that the court erred in allowing Charles Mott, a Texas Department of Public Safety supervising chemist, to testify from the notes of Deborah Regan, the DPS chemist who performed the lab tests on the contraband but was unavailable on the day of trial.
