We granted the motion for review in this worker’s compensation action to consider the following two issues: (1) whether the employer is entitled to an offset against the workers’ compensation award of scheduled member benefits in an amount equal to fifty percent of the Social Security old age insurance benefits received by the employee; and (2) whether permanent total disability benefits begin accruing on the date of injury or on the date of maximum medical improvement.
