Mattoon Federal Savings and Loan Association (Mattoon) appealed from an order of the district court affirming an order of a Bankruptcy Judge. Mattoon held a mortgage on the home of the Debtors (Allens). After default and acceleration of the entire principal, it had obtained a judgment of foreclosure. A foreclosure sale was held the day after the bankruptcy was commenced, and Mattoon was the successful bidder. The order of the Bankruptcy Judge determined, among other things, that the sale was void, and denied Mat-toon’s motion which claimed that under 11 U.S.C.…
