The plaintiff, Donna Samuelian, has appealed from an entry of summary judgment in favor of the defendant, Town of Coventry. The trial court granted summary judgment after determining that Rhode Island’s loss of consortium statute, G.L.1956 § 9-1-41, as amended by P.L.1988, ch. 544, § 1, does not authorize plaintiff’s claim for damages she incurred as the result of an automobile accident in which her same-sex, cohabiting companion was injured.
