CARNES, Circuit Judge:

This Court has previously upheld the enforceability of appeal waivers that are knowingly and voluntarily entered. E.g., United States v. Bushert, 997 F.2d 1343 (11th Cir.1993). We have explained how they serve important interests of the defendant as well as the government, United States v. Buchanan, 131 F.3d 1005, 1008 (11th Cir.1997), and we could have added the judicial system itself to the list of beneficiaries.
