Charged with larceny and making a false claim against the United States in violation, respectively, of Uniform Code of Military Justice, Articles 121 and 132, 10 USC §§ 921, 932, the accused was found guilty of wrongful appropriation of the stated sum and of making the false claim in question. Intermediate appellate authorities affirmed, and we granted the accused’s petition for review on the question whether the law officer abused his discretion in overruling a defense motion for a mistrial based upon the court-martial’s receipt of certain testimony…
