Claimant, Hayward Rorie, filed an application for adjustment of claim pursuant to the Workers’ Occupational Diseases Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 48, par. 172.36 et seq.) (the Act), in which he alleged that he had contracted leukemia as a result of his exposure to the chemical benzene while in the course of his employment with the respondent, Service Adhesive Company. The arbitrator found the claimant’s leukemia was causally connected to his occupational exposure to benzene during the course of his employment and awarded the claimant 4222/7 weeks for temporary total disability, permanent…
