Plaintiff Barbara A. Watson, a registered nurse, commenced this suit on January 19, 1999 against her former employer, Defendant Riverside Osteopathic Hospital (“Riverside”) and her former bargaining representative, Defendant Service Employees International Union Local 79 of the AFL — CIO (“Local 79”), asserting hybrid breach-of-contract and duty of fair representation claims under § 301 of the Labor Management Relations Act (“LMRA”), 29 U.S.C. § 185(a).
