This was a proceeding begun by appellee, against appellant and others, under section 1 of the act of 1897, entitled “An act to amend an act entitled ‘An act to enable cities and villages to build, acquire and maintain bridges and ferries outside of their corporate limits, and to control the same,’ approved and in force May 5, 187.9, as amended by an act approved June 16, 1891. Approved June 9, 1897.” (Hurd’s Stat. 1905, chap. 24, par. 194.)
