CARL E. STEWART, Circuit Judge:
Following a guilty plea, the district court convicted Jose Manuel Angeles-Mascóte (“Angeles-Mascóte”) of illegal re-entry after deportation in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326. On appeal Angeles-Mascóte contends that the record contains an made- quate factual basis to support his guilty plea. For the following reasons we vacate Angeles-Mascote’s conviction, and remand this case to the district court for entry of a new plea.
