I. INTRODUCTION

Pending before the court is a motion to transfer venue to the Northern District of California filed by defendants Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (“PacBio:”), Life Technologies Corporation (“Life”) and Illumina, Inc. (“Illumina”). For purposes of exploring the papers filed by each party, the court held an evidentiary hearing on February 16, 2012. The court has jurisdiction to hear this motion pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1338.
