Appellant was convicted of murder and his punishment assessed at five years confinement in the State penitentiary.
In the first bill of exceptions appellant complains of the action of the court in refusing to permit him to prove by Mayor Ben Campbell and some ten of the other leading citizens of Harris County that they had known him for many years and that he had always borne the reputation of being a peaceable, law-abiding citizen.
