On January 14, 1941, plaintiff, William C. Jerome, an attorney at law, started a suit in the circuit court of Cook county to recover fees for legal services he claimed to have rendered defendant, 5019-21 Quincy Street Building Corporation. A summons was issued the same day the complaint was filed. It was in the form prescribed by Rule 4 of this court and notified the defendant to answer or otherwise make appearance on or before the first Monday in the month of February, 1941, provided that if service was not had at least twenty days prior to the first Monday in February then it should answer…
