ROGERS, Circuit Judge:

Appellant Fawaz Farouki appeals from a judgment awarding appellee Rafie Saadeh $758,470 for breach of contract for failure to repay a commercial loan. Prior to oral argument, the court ordered the parties to be prepared to address whether the district court lacked subject matter jurisdiction over the lawsuit under 28 U.S.C. § 1332(a).
