On December 6, 1966, Lieutenant Hogan of the Stamford police department, armed with a search warrant issued by a judge of the Circuit Court, entered premises known as the Colony Cleaners, located at 174 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford. This is a cleaning establishment run by the defendant. As Hogan, accompanied by Detectives Aguire and McLellan, entered through the front door, he could see into the back room of the store and observed the defendant seated at a sewing machine.
