The defendant in error instituted this action in the district court of Jefferson county to recover damages alleged *446to have resulted from injuries received by him in an attempt to couple together two freight cars of a company other than the plaintiff in error, which were being, or to to be, transported over the line of road or a portion thereof of the plaintiff in error, and which had on them what were known as double deadwoods or buffers.
