HEEN, J.

Defendant William Joseph Buffalo (Defendant) appeals from his conviction of the offense of being a felon in possession of a firearm, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) § 134-7(b). The dispositive issue on appeal is whether the trial court committed reversible error in admitting certain documentary evidence to prove Defendant’s prior felony conviction. We answer yes and reverse.
