This is a contest for office. The plaintiff claims to have received a majority of the votes cast for the office of sheriff of the parish *611of Lafourche at the general election in November last, and that he was legally elected sheriff at'said election; but that, notwithstanding, his opponent, the present defendant, who was defeated at the polls, he fears and alleges will be returned elected and put in possession and enjoyment of the office and its emoluments through fraud and other ill-practices on the part of the supervisor of registration, the…
