{dissenting). Defendant drove into Howell with a Packard automobile and stopped at the curb. He had been there only a short time when the. sheriff of Livingston county came to the car and demanded admittance. After defendant learned of him who he was he was admitted. The sheriff inquired what he had in the suit cases which were in the car. Defendant made no reply, whereupon the sheriff attempted to open one but found it locked.
