The defendant appeals from a conviction of murder in the first degree pursuant to G. L. c. 278, §§ 33A-33G, assigning twenty errors, but arguing only nine. Because careful review of the transcript and record makes it clear that the defendant’s assignments are devoid of merit, we deal with them briefly. We affirm.

The record discloses a lengthy trial with many witnesses and contradictory testimony. We therefore find it best to discuss the specific facts as it becomes necessary to do so in the course of this opinion. Suffice it to say at this point that the defendant was charged with the murder…
