This case arises from a motor vehicle accident in which the plaintiffs sued defendant Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation (PRAC) and its insureds, defendants Annette and Nicola Liquori. The parties agreed to arbitrate the tort claims. The arbitration agreement included so-called "high/low" amounts, established interest provisions, and specifically excluded the G. L. c. 93A claims against PRAC. The voluntary arbitration resulted in an award of $905,000, well in excess of the high limit of $250,000 agreed to by the parties.
