Wm. D. Lindgren, the defendant, a young man 21 years of age, was driving his father’s 1950 Buick automobile in a northerly direction on University Avenue in the City of Peoria between 4:30 and 5:00 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, January 13, 1957. Main Street runs in an easterly and westerly direction, and intersects University Avenue. At the intersection there are the customary electric signal lights.
