This was an action instituted in the circuit court by Security Finance Company, of Iowa City, Iowa, against J. B. Dun can, a merchant at Rickman, Overton county, to recover upon six promissory notes, dated April 1, 1925, aggregating $267, and interest, payable to the order of Brenard Manufacturing Company, of Iowa City, Iowa. These notes were alleged to have been given by J. B.
