Jerry Alexander and Bryan Courtney (“the plaintiffs”) appeal the trial court’s sua sponte dismissal of their action for want of prosecution. We affirm.

Facts and Procedural History

On April 17, 2008, the plaintiffs sued Geico Insurance Companies (“Geico”) in the Jefferson Circuit Court seeking uninsured-motorist benefits. The complaint alleges that Geico had issued Alexander an automobile-insurance policy containing uninsured-motorist coverage and that the plaintiffs were injured in an automobile accident with an uninsured motorist in September 2007.
