OPINION

FAY, Chief Justice.

This case is before us on the defendant’s appeal from a judgment of conviction for second-degree murder and assault with intent to murder. We affirm the conviction.

The pertinent facts of the case are as follows. On January 2, 1984, defendant, Brian Fernandes (Fernandes), and two companions, Arthur Denham and David Medei-ros, 1 traveled from Fall River, Massachusetts, to the city of Providence for a night on the town.
