On the 9th of November, 1799, Breckenridge paid for Brooks the sum of $4127 90; and to secure Breckenridge, Brooks conveyed to him by an absolute deed his Man’s-lick estate, but took from Breckenridge a bond for the reconveyance thereof, upon Brooks’ refunding to Breckenridge the aforesaid sum, and other moneys which Breckenridge might thereafter advance for Brooks.
