I. INTRODUCTION

Plaintiff Thomas Kingsford brought suit in the United States District Court for the District of Utah. One of his claims asserted that he was deprived of property without due process of law in his termination as head football coach at Highland High School (“Highland”). Named as defendants were the Salt Lake City School District (“SLCSD”) and Charles Shackett, who was principal of Highland at the time Kingsford was terminated as head football coach.
