liThe defendant, Karbin Paul, filed a Motion to Quash the bill of information filed against him. His motion alleged that the State violated his constitutional right to a speedy trial and that the State failed to bring him to trial within two years of the institution of the prosecution against him as required by Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure article 578(A)(2). The State of Louisiana defended the motion claiming that Mr. Paul is responsible for the delay and alleged an interruption of the statutory prescriptive period.
