Four head of cattle belonging to the Decatur Cotton Seed Oil Company escaped from its feed pens near its oil mill in the town of Decatur at night, and, as a result of being struck by a train of the Ft. Worth & Denver City Railway Company within the corporate limits of the town, and at a point where the railway was not fenced, two of them were killed outright, and the other two were so badly injured that they afterwards died.
