Nature of the Case

A jury found Mfredo Vasquez guilty of the offense of murder and assessed punishment at forty years confinement in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In his first issue, Vasquez alleges that the evidence is legally and factually insufficient to support the verdict.
